This production was done for the Mount of Olives orphanage group in Mexico. We filmed for one week covering the various activities of volunteer students while they assisted in the construction of a reinforcement wall. This video was created to help raise awareness for the orphanage and help them obtain additional funding and volunteer aid. It was filmed with a Sony FX-1 and edited in Final Cut Pro.

We haven’t had much to post over the last little while, mostly because the projects we’ve been working on are ones we don’t have the rights to post.

In the last couple months, we’ve worked on a few projects, including:

  • Shooting an interview and B-roll for Virginia Mason Medical Center
  • Shooting interviews, B-roll, and additional material for UW TV at a local winery
  • Assisting with the pre-production for the video portion of the third installment on Patrick Carman’s Skeleton Creek book series.
  • A 3 camera shoot for a wedding in California, for which a video will be posted in our portfolio soon.

We have a few more projects on the horizon, are working on plans for assembling some stock footage libraries to sell and give away, and are transitioning to a new camera platform.  We’ve also just signed on with Comcast Spotlight to shoot commercials for them in the La Grande, OR and Baker, OR markets on a regular basis, which we look forward to.

Check back from time to time.  We plan to have another piece or two added to our online portfolio soon, as well as news about other projects we’ve got going on.

Mechan Media had the opportunity to travel to Honduras for two weeks with the Walla Walla University chapter of Engineers Without Borders to document the trip with photos and video.

This fundraising video was produced with a portion of that material and debuted as the main presentation at the EWB-WWU Hope for Honduras Spring Gala 2010. The event raised $16,000 when the goal was $15,000.

In addition to the material seen here, interviews were conducted with the locals in Luis Garcia.  These interviews and additional footage were collected with the intent of providing enough material to make it possible to create a documentary about the community at a later date.

Last night the Engineers Without Borders – Walla Walla University held their annual fundraising gala.  Their target was $15,000 and they managed to raise over $16,000!

As a part of the main presentation, Mechan Media presented a video for the event that updated the attendees on the project and gave background information about the organization and the impact it has on students.  The video was very well received and garnered a lot of positive feedback.  Pending a few more small tweaks and a very long encode process, we plan to have the video posted in our portfolio in a few days.

The video is a follow up to the first video we did for EWB a little over a year ago.
